The translation of an excerpt of the speech of Italian MP Emanuele Pozzolo follows:

Thank you that bring us to this assembly, is the thank you that we bring to Madame Rajavi, and the gratitude of Italian politics, the high-minded and noble one. I believe that it will always be willing to stand alongside the People’s Mojahedin (MEK) to explain to the entire world, starting from our Europe, that your battle for freedom is also our battle.

That phrase I saw when I went to Ashraf with my friend Senator Giulio Terzi, it’s etched in my heart and mind. It calls forth the eternal flame of freedom. That phrase is the exact synthesis of the common battle that we share and that we want to support through you, for a free Iran.

Because a free Iran isn’t just your great and beautiful homeland that should return to the hands of free people like yourselves. It’s a symbol for the entire world, for all free hearts that love liberty, that fight for freedom.

And thus, it’s our battle. We’re not here just to offer solidarity. We’re here to point towards a path of action. Italy, I believe, between the Senate and the Chamber, has done great work, thanks to Senator Giulio Terzi, who always guides us on this path.

And I think that today, that eternal flame of freedom is the synthesis of our collective action, but at the same time, it’s the epitaph of a criminal and terrorist regime like the one governing Iran today. So, long live freedom!

È il Grazie che noi portiamo questa vostra assemblea che portiamo a Madame Rajavi e il grazie della politica italiana, quella alta, quella nobile, io penso che avrà voglia di schierarsi sempre a fianco dei Mujahidin del popolo per spiegare al mondo intero, a partire dalla nostra Europa.

Che la vostra battaglia di libertà è una battaglia che è nostra anche, quella frase che io ho visto quando sono andato ad Ashraf con l’amico senatore Giulio Terzi, che mi è rimasta impressa nel cuore e nella mente, quella frase che richiama l’eterna fiamma della libertà, ecco quella frase è la sintesi esatta di quella battaglia comune che noi abbiamo e che tramite voi e con voi vogliamo sostenere per un Iran libero.

Perché l’Iran libero non è soltanto la vostra grande e bella patria che deve tornare in mano a persone libere come siete voi, è un simbolo per tutto il mondo, per tutti i cuori liberi che amano la libertà, che lottano per la libertà.

E quindi è una nostra battaglia, non siamo qua per dare solidarietà, siamo qua per indicare una linea di azione, l’Italia, credo, tra Senato e Camera, penso che abbia fatto un grande lavoro, grazie al senatore Giulio Terzi che sempre ci accompagna in questa linea.

E io penso che quell’eterna fiamma della libertà oggi sia la sintesi del nostro agire comune e sia al contempo però l’epitafio di un regime criminale e terroristico come quello che sta governando l’Iran oggi, quindi viva la libertà!
