On Saturday 13 july 2019, a large crowd gathered in Ashraf 3, Albania, home to Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), to hold the annual Free Iran rally of the Iranian resistance. The event was the fourth installment in a series of events held at Ashraf 3. Lord McInnes of Kilwinning gave a speech in this gathering.

Lord McInnes of Kilwinning: Distinguished guests, dear friends from Ashraf, and of course Madame Rajavi, I’m honored to be here today because this is an important conference on Iran and the future of stability in the region and across the world.

It is the first time that I’ve visited Albania. I have already visited Madame Rajavi’s grand gatherings in Paris. But what is clear today and from then is the genuine enthusiasm and hunger of everyone here to ensure a democratic and pluralistic Iran once more.

The great privilege of yesterday was being able to hear firsthand the testimony of those who have suffered at the hands of the brutal Iranian regime. And now as we see with hundreds of demonstrations, thousands of demonstrations across 500 cities in Iran, we can see the Iranian people are ready for real change.

Lord McInnes of Kilwinning ended his speech saying: And the crucial reason for that hunger for real change is the illegitimate actions of the Iranian state in sponsoring world terrorism and of the actions of the IRGC. It is incumbent, ladies and gentlemen, upon all o us from the UK and the EU to work as hard as we can to ensure that evil organization is proscribed in the West and no longer do the Iranian people suffer because of its illegitimate international aims.
