Senator Torricelli supports Free Iran gathering

Every year at the annual Free Iran gathering held by the Iranian Resistance, distinguished guests from around the world take to the stage to lend their support and encouragement and to speak about how they can influence policies in their own countries to help the people of Iran in their pursuit of freedom, democracy and human rights.

The last Free Iran gathering was held in Albania, at Ashraf 3 – the home to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK). An exhibition was held at the same time, showing the 1988 massacre in images, and showing the horrors of what happened at that time when tens of thousands of political prisoners were executed in just a few months.

A series of events enabled survivors to be heard. They spoke about the torture they endured in jail as political prisoners, about the horrors that they saw every day and about the cruelty they were subjected to.

Former U.S. Senator Robert Torricelli is a long-time supporter of the Iranian Resistance and he was one of the guest speakers at the event that was held on Saturday 13th July last year. He introduced himself humbly as a “volunteer” and “a simple soldier” in the “international fight to end the dictatorship and bring freedom to Iran”.

Senator Torricelli spoke about the history that is being made right now by the people of Iran – history in the making that will be the pathway to the freedom that Iranians are certainly going to experience soon. He called on the people to ensure that they are more than “just a witness to history”. He called on students that have not already joined the Resistance to do so now. He called on workers that are toiling in the factories of the notorious Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to “break your chains, lay down your tools, stop working to fund terror and misery and the destruction of your own country”. He added: “Rise up to work to feed your own families in new Iranian freedom. We are ready. The time is now.”

Senator Torricelli also highlighted the importance of the Resistance, and in particular the role of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, its leader, in mobilizing the people and giving them the assurances that they will succeed in their battle. He spoke about the sacrifices of the people and the Iranian Resistance and assured then that the nation will be restored in their name.

The people of Iran want the regime to fall. They know that the regime will never look out for them and Senator Torricelli spoke about the dignity and integrity of the people and the Resistance. He said: “Gathered here today is what the regime could not buy, the respect, the dignity of other nations. I am proud to be here among the delegation of my own nation. Democrats or Republicans, liberals and conservatives, north, east and west, in the most distinguished group of united Americans it has ever been my pleasure to join. Committed to one common cause: the destruction of this regime now.”
