According to the published statement, Fallahi was arrested on January 25, 2025, and detained in Ward 241 of Tehran’s Evin Prison, where she reportedly spent approximately five months in solitary confinement. During that period, campaign organizers say she was subjected to prolonged interrogation as well as severe physical and psychological torture.
The death sentence was issued by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati, and was formally communicated to her on July 1, 2026. Organizers state that she had previously been arrested in November 2022 alongside her father, Nasrollah Fallahi, a former political prisoner from the 1980s.
The international statement expresses deep concern over the sentence and urges the United Nations, its human rights mechanisms, democratic governments, and international organizations to take immediate action to prevent the execution.
Campaign organizers also call on women’s rights organizations, anti-death penalty movements, labor unions, legal associations, parliamentarians, academics, and human rights defenders worldwide to publicly support the appeal and press for the protection of Fallahi’s right to life.
The campaign has gained visibility through statements and endorsements circulated by women’s rights advocates, international supporters, and activists across social media platforms, where calls to sign the petition and amplify Fallahi’s case continue to spread.

Human rights organizations have warned that a growing number of political detainees are currently facing capital punishment, prompting renewed calls for international intervention.
Supporters of the campaign maintain that immediate international attention and sustained diplomatic pressure are essential to preventing the execution of Arghavan Fallahi and ensuring respect for her fundamental human rights.
