Iranians, MEK Supporters in Europe Condemn Destruction of 1988 Massacre Victims’ Grave

On Monday, April 26, 2021, supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK/PMOI) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran(NCRI) held rallies in several European cities to protest the inhumane crimes committed by the Iranian regime to destroy the graves of the 1988 massacre‘s martyrs.

It is worth mentioning that the Iranian resistance issued a statement in this regard on April 24 and said:

In an inhuman crime, the religious fascism ruling Iran intends to destroy the mass graves of the 1988 massacre of political prisoners, in Khavaran cemetery in a bid to cover up evidence of this huge crime against humanity. To this end, the clerical regime has resorted to a double crime against the Baha’i compatriots in order to force them to bury their dead in Khavaran, an issue that the Baha’i community has protested to as well.

Supporters of the Iranian Resistance protested in Stockholm, Vienna, Oslo, Paris, and Brussels to condemn the inhumane act of the mullahs.

They said: Khavaran is a critical evidence to the 1988 massacre. We call on you to prevent its further destruction. Dependent on impunity, the current regime in Iran finds itself fit to destroy Khavaran that hold bodies of mass graves.

UN must do not delay Iranians 30 year-long call for a complete investigation into the 1988 Massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) condemned the clerical regime’s inhuman act of demolishing the graves of the martyrs and destroying evidence of crimes and urged for its firm condemnation by the United Nations Secretary-General, the UN Security Council, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the UN Human Rights Council.

She also urged them to take immediate measures to prevent the continued destruction of the graves of the martyrs of the 1988 massacre, as well as to prevent pressure and coercion against the Baha’is.

Also the committee “Justice for Victims of 1988 Massacre in Iran” (JVMI)urges UN intervention to preserve evidence of 1988 massacre at Khavaran mass grave in iran.

JVMI said: Destroying the mass graves related to the 1988 massacre is causing enormous psychological torment to the families of the victims. It is an attempt by the authorities to destroy the evidence of their ongoing crime against humanity. The families expect the UN to take immediate action to ensure the authorities halt this ongoing torture and destruction. The evidence at Khavaran and at all other mass graves must be preserved to allow an international investigation to hold the perpetrators of this ongoing crime accountable.

JVMI appeals to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet to publicly call on the Iranian authorities to immediately halt this crime.
