Iran Protests at a Glance—Tuesday, May 30, 2023

Iran Protests – May 30, 2023: On Tuesday, May 30, protests and demonstrations erupted in various cities across Iran. People from different social backgrounds took to the streets to voice their grievances against the regime.

In the city of Semirom in Isfahan Province, central Iran, local store owners went on strike to protest the unjust accusations made by the regime against two political prisoners. The regime’s security forces have killed the brother of these prisoners during Iran’s recent nationwide protests.

The Nabi Akram Hospital in Asaluyeh, situated in southern Iran, witnessed a protest gathering where a significant number of hospital staff expressed their demands.

In Hashtrud, East Azerbaijan province, northwestern Iran, official oil workers and firefighters held gatherings on Tuesday to protest authorities’ refusal to acknowledge their rights, even when based on the country’s own laws.

In Qods City of Tehran Province, regime authorities deployed oppressive security units outside the Islamic Azad University on Tuesday, as they intensify their crackdown on universities throughout the country.

At Khajeh Nasir Toosi University in Tehran, students staged a protest against oppressive measures imposed by the dean of the Electrical Engineering College. Local activists reported that the head of security had even physically assaulted several students.

Retirees and pensioners from the copper industry rallied outside the Presidential Office in Tehran on Tuesday, demanding the independence of the Pension Fund of the National Iranian Copper Industries Institute.

In Tabriz’s Imamieh district, regime municipality agents violently attacked local street vendors, using electric shockers and pepper spray against these impoverished individuals who have no other means to make a living.

In Mehrestan, Sistan & Baluchestan Province in southeast Iran, local residents faced difficulties in acquiring cooking and heating gas due to the regime’s corruption and incompetence. Long queues of discontented citizens and tensions increased as local officials remained unresponsive and failed to respond to the crowd.

Following reports from inside Iran, in response to the tragic death of Abolfazl Amir-Ataei, a 16-year-old boy from Shahr-Ray who had endured months of suffering after being shot by the regime’s security forces, a group of individuals took action.

On the night of Friday, May 26, these people launched an attack on the Tharullah garrison, which is controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in Kerman. The explosions caused by the attack shook the surrounding area.
