Iranians Rally in Geneva on Anniversary of Dr. Kazem Rajavi’s Assassination, Condemn Iran Regime’s Crimes Against Humanity

Geneva, Switzerland – April 24, 2025

Geneva, Switzerland – April 24, 2025: Supporters of the Iranian Resistance, including members of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), gathered in Nations Square outside the United Nations headquarters in Geneva to commemorate the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Kazem Rajavi.

Freedom-loving Iranians paid tribute to Prof. Rajavi, a distinguished advocate for human rights and a symbol of resistance against tyranny. They called for the prosecution of those responsible for ordering and executing his assassination and demanded they be brought to justice for crimes against humanity and genocide.

Dr. Kazem Rajavii, the NCRI’s representative in Switzerland, was assassinated near Geneva in 1990 on orders from the Iranian regime—less than two years after the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran, most of them MEK members and supporters.

Participants condemned the Iranian regime’s systemic human rights abuses, with particular emphasis on death sentences issued against political prisoners affiliated with the MEK.

They urged the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and member states to refer these crimes to the UN Security Council and to establish an international tribunal to hold the regime’s leaders accountable for crimes against humanity.

The rally also emphasized the Iranian people’s demand for a democratic republic, firmly rejecting both the current theocratic regime and any return to monarchy. Protesters voiced support for the democratic alternative proposed by the NCRI and the Resistance Units inside Iran fighting for freedom and justice.

In addition, the event strongly denounced the regime’s brutal repression of women, especially the imposition of forced hijab laws. Demonstrators praised the ongoing resistance of Iranian women and echoed the powerful slogan: “Woman, Resistance, Freedom.”

With their passionate presence, the protesters sent a powerful message to the international community: take a firm stand against the Iranian regime and support the Iranian people’s movement for freedom, democracy, and justice.
