Toronto: MEK Supporters Commemorate June 20, 1981 Protests and Endorse Maryam Rajavi’s Third Option

Toronto, Canada – June 21, 2025

Toronto, Canada – June 21, 2025: Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered to commemorate the anniversary of the nationwide protests on June 20, 1981, in Iran. This significant event marked the start of organized resistance against the ruling clerical regime. On that day, regime security forces violently attacked peaceful protesters, leading to a brutal crackdown involving torture, mass arrests, and executions.

At the gathering of Toronto, Ms. Judy Sgro, a member of the Canadian Parliament and one of the prominent and long-standing supporters of the Iranian resistance and Maryam Rajavi, attended and delivered a speech to the demonstrators, expressing her strong support for the Iranian resistance.

Ms. Judy Sgro, a member of the Canadian Parliament

The demonstrators marched in support of Maryam Rajavi’s message: the solution for Iran lies neither in appeasement nor in war, but in a third option: regime change by the people of Iran and the organized resistance.”

The event underscored the PMOI’s vision for a free, democratic, and secular Iran, rejecting both the current theocratic regime and any return to monarchy.

PMOI supporters called for the prosecution of the Iranian regime’s leaders for crimes against humanity in an international court.

They also demanded recognition of the Iranian people’s resistance, including the right of the MEK Resistance Units inside Iran to defend themselves against tyranny and dictatorship.
