Brussels Demonstration Highlights Support for Iranian Resistance
On 29 January 2026 in Brussels, Iranian freedom-loving demonstrators and supporters of the Iranian Resistance gathered outside the venue of the EU Council of Ministers’ meeting, urging European leaders to take decisive action against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Protesters arriving from across Europe delivered a unified message that the time for the fall of religious dictatorship in Iran has come, staging a determined and highly visible rally in parallel with the Council’s deliberations.
Marches, Banners, and Tributes Promote Maryam Rajavi’s Democratic Vision
Throughout the demonstration, participants carried banners and placards conveying clear political messages. A prominent front-line banner depicted a map of Iran bearing the slogan “A Free Iran with Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan,” presenting a democratic alternative to clerical rule. Along the march route, images of those killed during Iran’s nationwide uprisings were displayed with messages affirming that their sacrifice continues to inspire resistance. The sound of drums and chants filled the air as demonstrators of all ages stood side by side, many holding portraits of Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and calling on the international community to recognize the Iranian people’s right to resist repression.
EU decision marks a historic response to decades-long calls by the Resistance to blacklist the IRGC
Later the same day, the European Union formally designated the IRGC as a terrorist organization, placing it on the EU’s terrorist list and imposing measures including asset freezes, travel bans, and a prohibition on financial or material support to the force. The decision was widely viewed as a landmark step addressing the IRGC’s central role in internal repression, regional destabilization, and transnational intimidation, and as a long-overdue response to years of appeals by the Iranian Resistance and human rights advocates.
Celebrations follow announcement as protesters hail victory and salute uprisings inside Iran
Following the announcement of the decision at the Council meeting, demonstrators erupted into celebration, and chants of victory, hailing the designation as a historic achievement that the Iranian Resistance has pursued for decades. Participants congratulated the people of Iran, the nationwide protesters inside the country, and freedom-loving Iranians abroad, describing the move as a major political and moral victory while reaffirming their commitment to the struggle for a free, democratic, and secular Iran.
