Weekly Rally Against Executions in Gothenburg

Gothenburg, Sweden — April 21, 2026: Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) held a rally marking the 117th consecutive week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, a movement opposing the Iranian regime’s escalating wave of executions and systematic repression.

The gathering honored executed political prisoners, including Nima Shahi and Hamed Validi, who were among PMOI  political prisoners and early participants in the weekly Tuesday hunger strikes. Participants highlighted the regime’s intensifying crackdown, rising number of executions, and broader repressive measures, including internet shutdowns across Iran, as they chanted slogans such as “Down with the executioner regime.”

Freedom-loving Iranians in Gothenburg expressed support for Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and her call to expand the “No to Executions” campaign globally.

They reaffirmed that the presence of Iranian Resistance supporters in cities like Gothenburg is a pledge that political prisoners in Iran are not alone and that their struggle is neither forgotten nor invisible. The Iranian community in Gothenburg stood united—against executions, against oppression, and in defense of life, dignity, and a free Iran. Protesters also called for the prosecution of the regime’s leaders for crimes against humanity before an international tribunal.

Vision for a Democratic Republic and Support for MEK Resistance Units

Finally, the demonstrators reaffirmed the Iranian people’s call for a democratic republic, rejecting both religious dictatorship and any return to monarchy. They highlighted the importance of recognizing the Iranian Resistance and supporting the MEK Resistance Units inside Iran in their ongoing fight for freedom and justice.
