Iranian Resistance Supporters Call for Justice for the 1988 Massacre Victims

London, United Kingdom – August 1, 2026: Iranian Resistance supporters held a rally and exhibition at Trafalgar Square on Saturday, August 1, to commemorate the 38th anniversary of the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran.

The event was attended by members of the Iranian community in the United Kingdom and supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

Participants condemned the recent wave of political executions in Iran, including the public executions of two young protesters during the recent uprising, as well as the executions of political prisoners and PMOI members.

The exhibition honored the memory of the victims of the Iranian regime’s past and ongoing crimes against humanity and emphasized the urgent need for justice and accountability.

Speakers Condemn Executions in Iran and Urge International Accountability

At the opening ceremony, Naghmeh Rajabi, President of the Iranian-British Professionals Association, said:

“Over the past days, Amirhossein Safari, Abolfazl Sepahi, and Mehdi Khanaki have been executed by the regime. These are not isolated incidents or individual cases. They are part of a systematic campaign of intimidation and terror designed to silence protests and suppress the people of Iran.

“Every execution is not a sign of strength; it is a sign of fear. Delaying justice has only emboldened the regime to continue its crimes.

“We call on the United Nations, the British government, and democratic governments around the world to take action to stop the regime’s execution machine, save the lives of political prisoners, and hold accountable those responsible for crimes against humanity.”

Mark Williams, former Liberal Democrat representative and member of the British Committee for Iran Freedom, attended the event and welcomed the UK’s recent decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He called on the British government to take further action against the Iranian regime, including closing the regime’s embassy in London.

The rally and exhibition reaffirmed the participants’ call for justice for the victims of the 1988 massacre and an end to executions and repression in Iran.
