Maryam Rajavi at the Italian Parliament—July 12, 2023

On July 12, 2023, during a significant meeting held at the Italian Parliament, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), engaged with the Italian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee to discuss the dynamic landscape of Iran’s political developments.

An external rally saw hundreds of Iranians manifesting their unwavering support for Mrs. Rajavi and the nationwide uprising in Iran.

Deliberations in parliament revolved around the nationwide uprising in Iran, with an emphasis on Italy to spearhead a decisive policy initiative concerning the Iranian regime within the European Union. Italian lawmakers expressed profound admiration for her proposed alternative. They commended its extensive domestic support, the growing organization of Resistance Units, and the compelling vision for a democratic Iranian republic that resonates with the cherished principles of Western democracies.

Significant Support at the Italian Parliament: Mrs. Rajavi also addressed a distinguished assembly of cross-party members from Italy’s Chamber of Deputies and Senate at the historic Sala Regina. This gathering included majority members of both chambers, as they collectively voiced their endorsement of Mrs. Rajavi’s visionary 10-point plan for the future of Iran. This marks the first time that majorities in both houses of the Italian Parliament have stood behind a statement supporting Iran’s democratic uprising and Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-point Plan. They also advocated the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. An overwhelming number of representatives (204) and senators (103), constituting absolute majorities, have signed this declaration.

Prominent Attendees: Those attending the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Parliamentary meeting included senators Giulio Maria Terzi, Lucio Malan, Marco Scurria, Raffaele Speranzon, and Gisella Naturale, alongside representatives Giangiacomo Calovini and Naike Gruppioni. Additionally, the presence of Former Italian Prime Minister Carlo Cottarelli and Former UK House of Commons Speaker John Bercow added gravitas to the occasion.
