The funeral of Sir David Amess, the late Chair of the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom(BCFIF), took place on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, in the presence of the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson along with the Home Secretary, Parliament Speaker, and Sir Amess family. In addition, approximately 450 political figures and members of parliament attended this funeral.
The celebrant was Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the highest-ranking Catholic leader in London.
According to The Sun, Pope Francis, the world’s Catholic leader, sent a message of sincere condolences to the Sir Amess family. The pope called for the guests to resolve to “combat evil with good” and “build a society forever greater justice.”
“He showed what you can achieve as an MP to change lives of people up and down the country, and he will be much, much missed,” Boris Johnson paid tribute to Sir Amess.
Former Conservative Prime Ministers David Cameron, Theresa May, and John Major sat beside Mr. Johnson, Home Secretary Priti Patel, and Speaker Lindsay Hoyle in the front row.
A delegation from the Representative Office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran(NCRI) in England attended the funeral of Sir David Amess at Westminster Cathedral to commemorate this great supporter of the Iranian Resistance.
