Thursday, December, 9, 2021: The 49th session of the trial of Hamid Noury, one of the executioners of the 1988 massacre, took place in the Stockholm court. In this hearing, former political prisoner Reza Shemirani appeared in court as a witness and testified.

Mr. Reza Shemirani recounted his observations of the crimes of the executioner Hamid Noury in Evin Prison and the resistance of the heroic political prisoners in the 1988 massacre.

Reza Shemirani, who spent ten years in prison for supporting the Mojahedin Organization in Evin and Ghezel Hazar prisons, has recorded some of his observations and memories of the prison, especially during the massacre of political prisoners, in a book called “An Arjmandha” or “Those Honorable Ones.”

Mr. Shemirani said in this court session: From July 27, 1988, the massacre of prisoners began, which lasted for several months, and about 3,500 to 4,000 men and women were massacred in Evin prison alone. He added that only about 120 prisoners remained after the executions, and only 20 to 30 women prisoners survived.

Simultaneously with the trial, freedom-loving Iranians, supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Sweden, held a protest rally in front of the court in the very cold weather of Stockholm.

Iranians and supporters of the MEK call for the prosecution and accountability of Iranian regime leaders, especially Ali Khamenei and mass murderer Ebrahim Raisi, regime’s judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei and all officials involved in the summer 1988 massacre.
