The statement released by the Australian Parliament
The United Nations has condemned Iran’s gross violations of Human Rights in 64Resolutions. Under the clerical regime in Iran since 1981, more than 120,000 Iranian civilians have been arbitrary arrested, tortured and executed, including the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988. Amnesty International called it a “Crime against Humanity”. Stating that its perpetrators must face justice. According to UN reports, the Iranian regime is the world’s leading executioner per capita.
Despite such severe repression, since December 27, 2017 the world has witnessed waves of uprisings and protests by Iranian people expanding to over 140 cities. People chanted “reformists, hardliners, the game is over, ““down with Khamenei-Rouhani,” “Leave Syria alone, think about us!”, indicating their determination to change the dictatorship and stop terrorism.
The telephone call of Iranian President Rouhani to French president Macron asking France to restrict the legitimate activities of the PMOI, for provoking recent demonstration, shows the regime’s fear of the opposition (AFP-han2). Supreme Leader Khamenei publicly announced that the PMOI has been the organizers of uprisings; “we have specific information they have been planning, preparing and organizing these protests since months ago”, he declared.
We call on PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) and the International Community to support the demands of the Iranian People for justice and democracy. We support their Grande Rally on June 30 in Paris to endorse National Council of Resistance of Iran 10 point plan for democracy as a viable alternative to Iran’s current crisis.
