The Romanian Association (A.P.A.D.A.R): The Perpetrators of the Crimes Against Humanity in the 1988 Massacre Are Still in Power

The Romanian Association for the Protection of Displaced Persons and Refugees (A.P.A.D.A.R) issued a statement on September 27, 2020. (A.P.A.D.A.R). They wrote; “The perpetrators of the crimes against humanity in the 1988 massacre are still in power, imprisoning and torturing protesters.” “We emphasize the sending of an international delegation to visit Iranian prisons.”

The Romanian Association remembered the brutal execution of Navid Afkari and Mostafa Salehi by the regime for participating in nationwide protests. And in this regard wrote, “Crimes against political prisoners in Iran began in the early 1980s and have continued to this day.”

(A.P.A.D.A.R) continued, “The international community never investigated the massacre of more than 30,000 Iranian political prisoners in the summer of 1988, and its perpetrators were never brought to justice. The same people who committed this crime are still in power and are persecuting the protesters.”

The Romanian association called for immediate action by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, High Commissioner for Human Rights. They wrote,” We demand the UN Human Rights Council and relevant rapporteurs and international human rights organizations to prevent the execution and rescue efforts of prisoners and the release of political prisoners in Iran and to immediately stop the ongoing torture and ill-treatment and to prevent a major humanitarian catastrophe in prisons. “We reiterate the need to establish an international investigative to visit Iranian prisons and meet with prisoners, especially political prisoners.”
